Coupons = Money

I've only been couponing a few short months and have saved quite a bit. I usually post my shopping trip photos on facebook, and my friends began asking me about it. So, I thought I'd share how to get the most out of coupons.
Hang on to your coupons. Just because you have a coupon for something doesn't mean you have to use it right away. Normally, the item will go on sale the week the coupon expires so if you hang on to that coupon until the item goes on sale for the lowest possible price, you maximize your savings.
Compare store circulars.  This does take some time but it's worth doing if you really want to save money. Match up store sales to your coupons and the savings add up.
Organize your coupons.  I have a simple 3-ring binder since I'm just getting started in the coupon game, but I really want the Case-it D-185 XLarge Capacity Zipper Binder with 5-Tab File Folder - Red. This binder has a handle and strap that make it easy to carry on shopping trips and it's large enough to hold lots of coupons! I'll share more about binder organization in a later post.
Keep a price book.  Again, this takes some time, but it's so worth it. The point of a price book is to help you keep track of sale prices of certain items at different stores. I use a regular notebook and put the item at the top of the page then list the store and price along with the date.  After doing this for a few months, you should be able to see a pattern of when your items are going on sale and where.
Get your hands on lots of coupons. To really save money you need alot of coupons. Coupons are everywhere, and when you start looking for them, you'll see what I mean.
They are all over the grocery store...peelies (stickers on products), catalinas (printed out at the register), blinkies (in-store coupon machine).
Ask your family or friends for their unwanted coupons. Chances are, they have no idea how valuable coupons are and they've been tossing them out with the recycling, or worse...trash.
Which brings me to my favorite way of getting coupons. Recycling bins. Our library has two bins out front and I'm able to get alot of coupons outta there. My kids run to the car because they don't want to be seen with the crazy searching-for-coupons lady!
One very simple place to get coupons is online. There are many coupon printing sites. My favorite pays me 10 cents for every coupon redeemed. Check it out here: http://www.inboxdollars.com/?r=ref9580036.
Following these tips should be enough to get you started and on your way to $aving!
