Lazy summer days can lead to those dreaded words..."Mom, I'm bored". Trying to cure my kids' boredom can cost me a fortune so I have to find budget friendly activities to occupy their time and mine.
Here's a list of a few ideas:
Cheap Movies. We have a Cinemark theater close to our house that shows newer released movies after they've been shown at the "big buck's" office. I try to take my kids once a week, usually on Tuesday's since that is the cheapest ticket day at our location. http://www.cinemark.com/
Summer Reading Program. Our local library offers a summer reading program that allows you to read books and earn points. The points can be redeemed for many things from little toys and trinkets to bowling passes, baseball games, County Fair tickets and much more. http://www.publiclibraries.com/
Parks and Rec. Depending on where you live, chances are there is probably a park nearby. You can make a whole day of it by packing a picnic, hiking, fishing(w/ a license-check for your state requirements), camping, etc. http://www.us-parks.com/
Bowling. Sign your kids up for 2 free games of bowling every day all summer long. Shoe rental is extra.

Get Creative and Google activities you can do at home. We love the show Minute to Win it, and we have recreated some of the games with supplies we have on hand. I recently used some Kohl's cash to buy yard games. http://www.kohls.com/
Just relax and enjoy making memories with your family, after all, that's what life's all about!
